Members of Central New Jersey Commercial Real Estate recently traded offices, job sites, and conference rooms for shovels, mulch, and garden tools during a volunteer service day at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County’s Red Bank Clubhouse.
The group worked together to restore an outdoor patio and activity area ahead of the Club’s summer camp season. Volunteers cleared overgrowth, removed weeds, planted new greenery, spread mulch, and refreshed the space so it would be ready for children and staff to enjoy throughout the summer.
Founded by Doug Twyman, SIOR, Senior Managing Director at Colliers, CNJCRE brings together approximately 75 professionals from across the commercial real estate industry. Its membership includes developers, brokers, architects, engineers, attorneys, lenders, contractors, environmental consultants, and other related professionals serving Central New Jersey.
“CNJCRE has grown into a strong network of professionals who value both meaningful business relationships and meaningful community involvement,” said Twyman. “This project was a great opportunity for our members to work side by side and support an organization doing important work for local children and families.”
The service day also reflected a natural connection between the two organizations. Adam Taylor, President and CEO of Red Bank-based creative agency Splendor, is an active CNJCRE member and recently became President of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County. Taylor helped coordinate the project.
“Commercial real estate plays a major role in shaping communities, and that responsibility extends beyond properties and transactions,” said Taylor. “As Monmouth County continues to attract new investment and development, it becomes even more critical to strengthen the organizations that support the people who live here.”
The completed work gives summer campers a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming outdoor environment while allowing Club staff to devote more time to youth programming rather than facility maintenance.
Daniel Rivera, Chief Operating Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, thanked the volunteers for their contribution.
“Projects like this make an immediate difference for our staff, members, and families,” Rivera said. “We are grateful to CNJCRE for giving their time and energy to help us prepare for another busy summer.”
Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County serves more than 1,800 young people annually through after-school programs, summer camps, academic support, mentorship, leadership development, health and wellness initiatives, and other youth development services.
The project comes at a time of growing interest in Monmouth County from developers, investors, and businesses. With major initiatives such as Netflix’s Fort Monmouth production campus moving forward, CNJCRE members recognize that the region’s continued growth should also support the local institutions that help children and families thrive.
